This tour marks the 40th anniversary of the remarkable year of 1968 - a year in which the U.S. ruling class and its allies around the world faced the greatest challenges to its rule in a generation.
In January, the Tet Offensive exposed the lies of the brutal U.S. policy in Vietnam — sparking both a massive anti-war movement at home, and the beginnings of a U.S. soldiers rebellion against the war in Vietnam.
In April, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated and 100 cities rose in rebellion against racism and poverty.
From the horror of Vietnam, to US military forces occupying major American cities, to the Chicago police riot against anti-war demonstrators at the Democratic National Convention, the brutality of the U.S. rulers was laid bare as the whole world watched.
Together these events led millions to question not only the U.S. government and its priorities, but also the very nature of the society we live in.
What was the connection between the anti-war movement and the fight against racism?
What do the events of four decades ago mean for activists and radicals organizing for a better world today?
