Dear Friend:The LA Board of Supervisor’s election between Mark Ridley-Thomas and Bernard Parks is one of the most important local races in recent years. There has not been a contested race for a Supervisor seat since 1992. The Board of Supervisors governs an area whose population is larger than many states — and their decisions are CRITICAL to: Health care for the poor, environmental policy, public transit, mental health care, smart economic development. Mark Ridley-Thomas is a progressive bridge-builder between communities and an agent for change.
In contrast. Bernard Parks, is a conservative being bankrolled by developers and big businesses that neglect the 2nd District. Councilman Parks is the former LAPD Chief of Police whose tenure was not renewed because he failed to address systemic problems within the LAPD.
