Mansoor_headshotGlobal Voices for Justice has been hard at work, and we have exciting things to share with you. First, thanks to all of you who supported our booth at the LA Times Festival of Books at UCLA last month. It allowed us to introduce many new people to progressive publications and ideas.

In three weeks we’ll be taking off to the fourth National Conference for Media Reform (NCMR) held by FreePress. This important conference is held every 18 months, and this year is in Minneapolis, Minnesota, June 6th - 8th (more below).

National Conference for Media Reform
Many influential media people will be talking about how to implement changes and deliver real news to us. Bill Moyers, Davy D, Amy Goodman, Glen Ford, Lawrence Lessig, Naomi Klein, Phil Donahue are just some of the great speakers, organizers, and community leaders who will be speaking at this year’s conference where they are expecting around 5,000 people in attendance! Go here for more details. It will be an electrifying three-day event with motivating speeches, provocative panel discussions, and networking with others interested in reforming our media to serve people rather than corporate or government interests.

Jeanne and Mansoor will be recording keynotes speeches, panels and workshops for Global Voices for Justice - or rather, for you - so that those who cannot attend can hear these important voices. We want to share these recordings with you, and we need your financial support.

The costs for our trip to Minneapolis will be over and above our normal equipment, production materials and workspace expenses (not to mention the rising cost of the gasoline we use to get to local events that we record every week). Make a tax-deductible donation toward our endeavors, and as a "thank you" gift we will choose from our conference best picks and send you a program on CD - one program for every $25 donated. Donate now, or mail a check or money order made payable to GVFJ/IHC to:

Global Voices for Justice | 1714 E. Erie St., Unit C | Long Beach, CA 90802

Thank you for your continued support for Global Voices for Justice.

For those of you who have been following our efforts to travel to Iran…
The Fellowship of Reconciliation has reapplied for our journalist visas and asked for a deadline of August 2008. Because of FOR’s perseverance and our media partner’s positive vision, we have renewed hope that this project will happen. Our deepest gratitude to those of you who have given good faith donations toward this important project.

Global Voices for Justice (GVFJ) is a project of the International Humanities Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit charity, so all donations to GVFJ/IHC are tax-deductible, and will support the promotion of progressive ideas and independent media. DONATE NOW. Visit our website for current project news and to browse our catalog of informative and inspirational programs available on CD.

Remember, if you make a donation of $25 or more before June 5th, you’ll receive the best programs from the National Conference for Media Reform (one for every $25), and know that you’re helping support independent media!

Peace,

Jeanne Kyle
Global Voices for Justice
For each $25
Global Voices for Justice will send you one program / recording from the best of the National Conference for Media Reform keynote speeches, panels and workshops for every $25 donated between now and June 5, 2008.

Simply DONATE NOW and we will add you to our list of conference supporters eligible for this special premium. And you will be participating in supporting independent media!
