Titus is challenging the Republican incumbent Jon Porter. Her race is targeted by the DCCC as one of the top in the country and is on the DCCC’s exclusive Red to Blue list. Titus’s campaign is the highest priority for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who recruited Titus to run and is strongly promoting her candidacy. “The Bush administration is continuing this war with no plan for success and no accountability. As a Congresswoman I will vote to begin withdrawing troops immediately. We need to stop spending $5,000 a second over there to build an infrastructure when we have great infrastructure needs here in the United States and here in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District.” ‐Dina Titus, Candidate for Congress
Alice Constadina "Dina" Titus is a Democratic member of the Nevada Senate, representing Clark County, District 7 since 1988. She has been the Minority Leader since 1993.
When the state Legislature is not in session, Titus is a political science professor at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has taught American and Nevada government at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, for 30 years. Before her recent congressional run, Republican governor Jim Gibbons narrowly defeated Titus in the 2006 gubernatorial campaign.
