The Celebrity Staged Play Reading Series at the Friends of Valley Cities Jewish Community Center and Westside Jewish Community Center continue their highly successful comedy/drama series with Harry and Eddie by Mark Weston. The cast stars Edward Asner, Arnold Weiss and Alexandra More.

"Weston perfectly captures those "good-old-boys", Eddie Jacobson and Harry Truman, and their involvement in world shaping events that led to the creation of the State of Israel."
A Question & Answer period will follow the presentation with the New York based playwright Mark Weston.

Building Bridges of Hope
June 12-23

Witness for Peace helped stop US support for the contra war. In the l990s we focused on the economic war and the IMF/World Bank policies which impoverished thousands of Nicaraguans.
Come and learn from Nicaraguans who continue to struggle for economic justice today.

Cost: $1000 plus international transportation. The fee includes set-up, translation, transportation in country, preparation, meals, lodging and extensive readings and activist tools both before and after the delegation. The fee also includes registration for the conference, Saturday night celebration, and training in DC, June 21 and 22.

Join a one month Syrian Peace Immersion Program
June 19 - July 17 and July 17 - August 14

The Damascus Summer Encounter is a 1- or 2-month service and learning program in Damascus, Syria.

Participants will volunteer with local humanitarian organizations, including schools, universities, orphanages and refugee relief programs and will meet with local community and religious leaders to learn more about current Syrian politics and culture.  Participants will also study Arabic at the Berlitz School. Each session includes a homestay with Syrian families.

Included are weekend excursions to Palmyra, Aleppo and other cities and sites of historical and cultural significance.

$1,680 for the month, the cost includes private accommodations in western style hotels, all meals, ground transportation, weekend excursions, Berlitz Arabic language course, translators and local guides.
