Adele Siegel - PRESENTE Dear Friends, Long-time Culver City peace activist Adele Siegel died peacefully on July 2nd, at Kaiser Hospital, West Los Angeles, with three of her four children at her side. She was 92 years old. A memorial is planned by the family in mid-August. Adele gave a lot to the movement. We always affectionately called her the ‘mother of CAMS’. Please take a moment to reflect on her passing as we move forward to provide peaceful options for youth. Adele gave her entire life to activism and justice. Her dedication to students will never be forgotten. ADELE, PRESENTE!!! Gregory Sotir Coalition Against Militarism In Our Schools ~ CAMS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Adele worked continuously to end war. She helped to remove the Jr. ROTC program from Culver City High School. She was a co-founder of PEACE GUIDES. She was my good friend and was active almost to the very end of her life. She spoke to the Culver City Council on these issues many times - and they did listen to her. She liked to give copies of ADDICTED To WAR to students, teachers, parents, city council members, school administrators and others. She was a strong supporter of Culver City Council Member and former mayor, Gary Silbiger. Adele’s loving husband Henry Siegel, died earlier this year. Henry worked with her on these issues, but it was Adele who was known for speaking out so strongly and taking the lead in their important activism. Adele, thank you for all you did and for being such a great role model to all who knew you. And thanks for all the support you gave to me since I met you. You will be remembered with much love and affection.
