Dear Friends:

Six years ago, shortly after 9/11, I found that the only way to reconcile my confusion about what was happening in our country, a pending invasion of Iraq, and my time in the Air Force as an Intelligence Analyst was to write a little show and put it up. In 2002 it was barely 70 minutes long and had no third act!  Six years later, much has changed in our world and the little show grew into 3 acts and won some awards.

After 300 performances, in Toluca Lake, Sherman Oaks, Claremont College, the Duplex in Greenwich Village, a rustic Grange Hall on Orcas Island, Washington and a night at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City, I can safely say, I never imagined the show would evolve in the way that it did.

It taught me many things as a performer and a writer but most of all, it made me into an activist and it continues to remind me of my connection to all beings.

This show was possible because of many folks believed in it and I want to publicly acknowledge the people who have made it all possible:

My Director, Steven Anderson, has been a creative, driving force behind The Need to Know. He never let up and gave me notes after every performance. He has kept me honest and sane through this journey and I am forever grateful to know such a being exists in our world. He always found time amidst family, teaching and coaching obligations to provide encouragement and guidance and I have been deeply humbled and blessed to be directed by him. Thank you Steven.

Thank you also to my Techies - Alanna Levenson (who endured my daily rewrites early on), Eric Campbell and lastly to Lesley Fairman who has been my faithful Tech Guru for the last two years.

Thank you to Kurt Swanson (Sidewalk Studio Theatre), Bryan Rasmussen (Whitefire Theatre), Susan Obrow (City of Culver City), Keith Jeffrey’s (LAAVAA) and the Kirk Douglas Theatre folks who all gave The Need to Know a home.

To my friends Shannon Noel and Jules Hogan who encouraged me every step of the way and never let me give up. To Ben Glass who created the artwork for the flier and Patrick Seeholzer who has been the gracious printer of all postcards, posters and programs - thank you so much for your generous contributions!!!

Veterans, artists and activists who continue to inspire me – Thank you all!!!

Please come celebrate this journey and say farewell to The Need to Know …

Please join us for a Cast Party in the lobby following the performance.

Thank you so much for supporting this show!!! It’s been an amazing six years and I could never have done it without you!!!

I am deeply grateful to you all and look forward to sharing this night with you.

With love and peace

April
