Saturday, October 11th, 9:00 AM
Meet at Arlington West Memorial, just next to the Santa Monica Pier.
Put on by Iraq Veterans Against the War Los Angeles
WHY: The first casualty of war is truth. During this crucial time, with elections approaching, we must bring attention to the price of the Iraq occupation. On October 11th, we will execute an order as soldiers and marine’s defending the American Constitution from enemies foreign and domestic. We will bring a piece of the occupation to the citizens of Los Angeles, and give them a small taste of what American troops, coalition forces, and Iraqi citizens face every day in an occupied country. We must raise awareness among voters.
WHAT: Members of Iraq Veterans Against the War Los Angeles will put on their uniforms once more and will patrol the streets of Santa Monica and Venice beach. They will simulate scenarios based on their deployed reality, including improvised explosive devices, riot control, and ambushes. Volunteers will portray Iraqi civilians. This is guerilla theatre and YOU are invited to participate.
WHO: YOU, Iraq Veterans Against the War - Los Angeles, Military Families Speak Out - Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego, Vietnam Veterans Against the War - San Diego, and Veterans For Peace - Los Angeles and San Diego.
Volunteers needed:
1) Support personnel (civilians): 5 public liasons (hand out fliers), 2 police liasons, 3 media liasons, 2 hydration/lunch facilitators
2) Iraqi citizens (civilians): many, portraying Iraqi citizens
3) Military patrol personnel: Iraq Veterans Against the War
WHEN : Saturday, October 11th.
OPERATION BRIEF: 0900 sharp (9:00 am) - ***Mandatory for all, including support personnel, who wish to participate in the operation.***
OPERATION TRAINING: 0930 (9:30 am) - ***Mandatory for all, including support personnel, who wish to participate in the operation.***
LUNCH: 1200 (1200 pm) - will be provided for all participants
OPERATION EXECUTION: 1300 (1:00pm)
OPERATION DEBRIEF/AAR: Immediately after completion of mission to be held at Arlington West, Santa Monica.
WHERE: Arlington West, Santa Monica, California. Facing the ocean, on the right side of the Santa Monica pier, on the sand. Park in the public lot or on the street.
UNIFORM: *****Mandatory for all, including support personnel, who wish to participate in the operation.*****
1) Support personnel (civilians) - Organizational T-shirts or those promoting withdrawal of all troops from Iraq
2) Iraqi citizens (civilians) - Completely white T-shirt and jeans/trousers. Please be aware that you might get dirty.
3) Military patrol personnel - Full desert combat uniform within appropriate military regulations

As the Afghan People begin their 8th year of United States/NATO Occupation, we call for a complete withdrawal of US Forces out of Afghanistan, and investigation into war crimes for the planners of the war and reparations to be determined and distributed by local states so that Afghanistan can begin to rebuild and heal from the foreign-imported violence which has driven local forces away from democracy, human rights, and back towards the US-armed Taliban.
