Greetings community partners,
It has been a long time since we made contact. Thanks to the effort of so many people Prop 6 did not pass in California . But the struggle will continue. The question is how can we be proactive and not just reactive to policies. For the meanwhile Homies Unidos is approaching our Tenth Anniversary Dinner, where we honor our leaders and community members with a little token of appreciation. This year we would like to honor three amazing people that have been part of Homies Unidos. We believe that by providing positive alternatives to youth involved in violence that they can make positive decisions and become roll models of change in their communities.
On behalf of the board of directors of Homies Unidos we would like to invite you to our Tenth Anniversary Dinner on November 20, 2008. These awards of recognition are given to those youth and family members who have demonstrated leadership not only with themselves but have contributed to Homies Unidos mission and vision.
Homies Unidos is dedicated to providing opportunities for youth and their families in the Pico Union, Koreatown, and Westlake areas of Los Angeles and San Salvador , El Salvador .
In the course of the last ten years we had over 850 graduates from the Epiphany Project program and 130 of those graduates have completed their tattoo removal treatments. We have served over 350 people with our free legal Clinics and have educated members in our community through our Libertad Con Dignidad, in social justice and civic engagement. We owe this to your generous contribution through out these ten years. Come and celebrate with us as we embark on another decade of social change.
