HOUSING FOR RASHID’S WIFE DORIS

From: Peter Dudar & Sally Marr: mail@arlingtonwestfilm.com

Dear Peace Community

Remember Rashid? The Army Ranger at the end of our film ARLINGTON WEST? Remember that he just died a few months ago of Agent Orange?

His wonderful wife Doris was just assaulted near her home by a mugger who stole her purse & keys, fractured her cheek bone, and fractured her arm.  She lives in downtown L.A. in a very dangerous spot.

Doris works for Children’s Services in the block of 3000-Wilshire-Blvd-area, and will be retiring in a couple of years. She is one of the sweetest people you will EVER meet on planet Earth!

Does anyone have a room in a house in a safer location in or around the Miracle Mile area, Wilshire-Vermont-Venice Bl. where Doris can rent? Or a studio apartment? She can pay up to $500/month. She has no car and uses the rapid transit system.

Please contact Peter & Sally (323) 650-8166 - mail@arlingtonwestfilm.com

Peace & Love,
Peter & Sally

                                                                            Patricia Indiana Isasa

Argentine torture survivor Patricia Isasa has fought for justice and transparency for 30 years.  Patricia was abducted by the military and police in her native Argentina when she was only 16 years old.  She was tortured and held for over 2 years  at one of the 375 clandestine detention and torture centers set up during the dictatorship.  Unlike so many of the disappeared.  Patricia survived and was released (1979).

She then compiled complaints to be presented to the
Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States, which was about to visit Argentina.  She was again abducted with another 30 men and women.  She was released after 3 days, but was one of only 4 to survive.   Due to her exhaustive research  her torturers were put in jail and are awaiting trial.  Even after receiving death threats in recent years, she has continued to work tirelessly and courageously to bring her perpetrators to justice .   After constant postponements in the trial date,  Patricia expects to  finally be able to confront her torturers in court  beginning  Summer of 2009.

"It urges … the power of change, and the power of you.  Watch the film, learn from it and make it happen." ~ Damian Vaca, MTV Movies
FUEL Reviews: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1294164/

The world spent  $1.2 trillion on arms in 2006. "Against that backdrop, how can we explain to people of good sense and good faith that it was not possible to find $30 billion a year to enable 862 million hungry people to enjoy the most fundamental of human rights: the right to food and thus the right to life?" ~ FAO Dir.-Gen. Jacques Diouf, Rome Summit 2008

Dear Friends:

The Trial of the Catonsville Nine is the next show at the Actors’ Gang in Culver City!

The Trial of the Catonsville Nine is the true story of 9 Catholic Activists who entered a Selective Service Office in Catonsville Maryland on May 17, 1968 and removed as many 1-A draft files as they could, took them out to the lawn, poured homemade napalm on them and lit them on fire. They then said the "Our Father" and waited to be arrested.  This play, written by Fr. Daniel Berrigan, is about their trial and was first produced at the Mark Taper in 1970.

I’m understudying the Judge in the show and I’m not sure I’ll go up but regardless, if you’re an activist, a Veteran, involved in social justice, a lawyer, part of the Interfaith Community, a citizen who fights injustice, a teacher, a historian, a student, or just plain American, this play explores truth, justice and the necessity of taking action as well as the moral imperative of creative non-violence and civil disobedience.

Before each show we’ll be staging a protest on the corner of Venice & Culver so bring your signs or just show up!!! 6:30pm-7:30pm
(When the trial ran in Oct. 1968 hundreds of people gathered outside the courthouse to protest and show their support.)

There’s also some amazing talk back sp eakers including Ron Kovic, Col. Ann Wright, Elliot Adams. Chuck Robertson and Janet Chisolm.  If you want to know the dates for those speakers and many others please shoot me an email.

Previews start tomorrow, Thursday, February 5th at 8pm and the show runs through March 21st.

Previews are 2/5, 2/6, 2/7, 2/10, 2/12, 2/13 at 8pm and 2/8 at 2pm

The Opening Gala is 2/14 at 8pm and will include a "Make Love Not War" Post Show -Rock Show and many special guests

Show runs 2/5 - 3/ 21

Thursday - 8pm - Pay what you can Night always!!!
