In today’s New York Times, columnist Roger Cohen writes: "Perhaps I have a bias toward facts over words, but I say the reality of Iranian civility toward Jews tells us more about Iran—its sophistication and culture—than all the inflammatory rhetoric."
This past year, Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb explored Iranian civility firsthand, making history by becoming the first woman rabbi to visit Iran and the first U.S. rabbi known to travel there in a formal peacemaking capacity since the 1979 revolution. To date, she had led two U.S. interfaith civilian diplomacy delegations to Iran. This week, she comes to the LA area to speak.

Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb, one of the first 10 women to serve as rabbi in Jewish history, has been a peace and justice advocate in the tradition of nonviolence for over 40 years. She currently works for the American Friends Service Committee in San Francisco on Middle East Programming focused on Palestine, Israel and Iran, and serves the Danforth Jewish Circle in Toronto, Canada.
