Knitting For Peace

CODE PINK
Thursday, April 16th
5:00 PM to 7:30 PM
at
LA PINKHOUSE
2010 Linden Avenue, Venice 90291
Our first knitting circle was such a success we’ve decided to do it again this Thursday!
We will be knitting squares for CODEPINK’s White House cozy for our upcoming Mother’s Day action in DC. If you can’t join us at Lafayette Park, this is a great way to make sure your message of peace is heard at the vigil! Join us for great conversation about the state of our world and what we can do to change it. If you want to knit bring your knitting needles or crochet hook and your dark pink or green yarn. Join us at the LA PINKhouse for an evening of fun, new friends, great conversation, and maybe learn a new skill or two from a fellow peace activist.
If you can’t make it to the knitting circle, but still want to contribute your handiwork, please visit our knitting page: http://www.codepinkalert.org/article.php?id=4795 for more info.

When Fidel Castro came to power 50 years ago on January 1, 1959, the
Batista government was not the only thing kicked out of Cuba. The
mobsters who had long dominated Havana’s sultry nights lost a seemingly
unstoppable cash machine. More than just a haven for rum and rhumba, the
Caribbean capital was at the crossroads of the narcotics superhighway
and a haven for gangsters who provided high-profile, high-life visitors
with anything their hearts desired. In this evocative hour, DECLASSIFIED
prowls the streets of pre-Castro Havana shedding light on secrets held
for generations. Step back in time to a Havana of the moneyed elite, a
cash cow for organized crime. This hour-long documentary features
extensive interviews with inside sources and leading scholars.
