Screening of

"In Prison My Whole Life"

A Film about Mumia Abu-Jamal

Saturday, April 25th, 5:00 PM -7:00 PM

Southern California Library for Social Studies and Research

6120 S. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles

There will also be a chance to buy Mumia’s latest book "Jailhouse Lawyers"

For more information email: antiracistaction_la@yahoo.com  or call: 310-495-0299

Mumia Abu-Jamal, former Black Panther and MOVE supporter is a political prisoner who has been on Death Row despite clear evidence of a police frame-up and judicial bias. April 24 is his 55th birthday, and also marks the release of his new book, "Jailhouse Lawyers." The US Supreme Court recently denied Mumia’s petition for a "write of certiorari" that would have allowed a full Supreme Court of his appeal. Although his death penalty was overturned by a federal judge, he remains on Death Row as the state of Pennsylvania appeals that ruling and seeks to reinstate the death penalty.

On April 25, come see the film "In Prison My Whole Life" an award-winning filming by Marc Evans with original songs by Snoop Dogg, based on the interrogation of Mumia’s case by William Francome, born the day Mumia was arrested in 1981. The film showing, birthday celebration and book reception will be held on Saturday, April 25 from 5-7 PM at the Southern California Library for Social Studies and Research, 6120 S. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles (between Slauson and Gage).

The event will feature Hank Jones, one of the San Francisco 8 (former Black Panther Party members and supporters facing a trial in San Francisco based on 35-year-old torture-extracted confessions, who will talk about Mumia and about developments in the SF8 case. There will be an update about Puerto Rican political prisoner Carlos Alberto Torres, and sister Thandisizwe Chimurenga will be providing birthday cake to mark the occasion. There will also be a chance to buy Mumia’s latest book "Jailhouse Lawyers", to write and send birthday greetings to Mumia, and to strategize with other activists about how to organize in Los Angeles to free Mumia Abu Jamal and all political prisoners. Sponsored by Anti-Racist Action Los Angeles, Puerto Rican Alliance, Union de Barrio, and others.
